Broncos compete at division championships

RITZVILLE – Lind-Ritzville senior Sydney Kinch took top honors in girls pole vault and long jump May 10 during the Northeast 2B-South division track and field championships here.

Kinch cleared 9-00.00 to win the pole vault and jumped 15-11.00 to take the long jump event.

She was also a member of the girls 4x100 relay team, which won that race in 55.79 seconds along with teammates Savannah Carruth, Myra Miller and Claire Wellsandt. Kinch placed second in the 100-meter race with a time of 13.95. Ayden Krupke of Reardan won the event in 13.22.

Myra Miller took second place in the shot put and discus events, finishing behind Haylee Appleford of Asotin in both events.

Miller threw the shot 29-01.00 and tossed the discus 104-05.

In the 200-meter, Wellsandt placed third with a time of 29.59. Krupke of Reardan won the event in 26.51.

Emmy Klewin was second in the 400-meter, with a personal best time of 1:17.49. Alana Billigmeier placed fourth in the javelin with a personal best throw of 80-04.

Boys results

In the boys events, Shawn Steinberger was second in pole vault, clearing 8-06.00. Bronco teammate Carson Kubik was fourth with a height of 7-06.00.

Zachary Cooper of Colfax won the event clearing a personal best 11-06.00.

Brock Kinch placed fourth in the both the 100- and 200-meter boys races with times of 12.42 and 24.94 seconds, respectively.

Steinberger was third in the 400 meters with a personal best time of 55.05 seconds.

Next up for the top finishers are the 2B District 7 Championships on Friday and Saturday, May 20 and 21, at Spokane Falls Community College.
