Alumni gather for banquet

LIND - Multiple classes of Lind and Lind-Ritzville high schools graduates were honored during a gala celebration Saturday night, May 7, in the current Lind-Ritzville Middle School.

The 55th annual Alumni Banquet took place in the gymnasium.

It was the first alumni celebration since 2019; Gov. Jay Inslee's coronavirus shutdown orders upended events in 2020 and 2021.

Keith Deaton served as the emcee for the event and Emmy Bouwman Erickson provided the invocation and dinner prayer.

Reid Weaver was the guest speaker.

Weaver and Deaton both presented scholarships to graduating seniors, as well.

Honored classes at the celebration were 1960-62, 1970-72, 1980-82, 1990-92, 2000-02 and 2010-12.

More than 100 people attended the event in the gymnasium of the school - the former Lind High School.

While most of the program honored alumni, it also honored five graduating seniors from Lind.

Alexis Melcher was awarded the Virgina Moorman Moore Scholarship. Moore was a 1932 Lind High School graduate and Salutatorian who passed away May 17, 2008, after a lifetime teaching children.

Kaylee Monroe and Amy Anderson received the Lind Alumni Scholarship.

Joseph Arroyo and Daniella Oliva each received the Jackson David Weaver Scholarship.

The $1,000 Weaver Scholarship honors students who are always striving to improve, and by doing so, inspire others.
