LIND – The Town Council had a public hearing April 26 for residents to provide input into the proposed quail Loop paving project.
The hearing was in anticipation of applying for a Community Development Block Grant to fund the project. Applications are due June 1.
If approved, the grant would provide up to $30,000 for planning and $900,000 in funding to pave Quail Loop, near North Eighth Street. Approved funds are expected to be awarded in 2023.
In other business, the council also discussed a Fifth Street proposed paving project, funded by a $416,000 grant from the state Transportation Improvement Board.
The project would replace 22 feet of driving lanes and add sidewalks and ADA ramps.
During the discussion, concerns were raised about the condition of water and sewer mains in the area. The mains are in poor condition, and if they fail after the project is complete, the city could be digging up a new street to repair or replace old mains, city officials said.
No decision was reached concerning the project.
Engineer Steve Nelson of Century West Engineering will visit in the near future to review the location and condition of water and sewer infrastructure.
The council also discussed bids for the Well No. 9 pump.
One bid in the amount of $24,893.10 has been received for repairs, officials said.
It was proposed to obtain additional bids. No action was taken.
In other business, the council approved two applications for building permits in town, and the purchase of four new tires from Les Schwab tires for a city pickup.
