Special values in
bluestem wheat
Those who have watched the quotations for wheat have observed that Big Bend Bluestem wheat produced in the Ritzville territory commands a premium of about ten cents a bushel over bluestem wheats produced in other sections of the state and a considerably wider margin over the soft club wheats of the Palouse country.
This is due to the fact that Big Bend Bluestem is coming to be recognized as a much more valuable flour for milling purposes.
In fact, all of this wheat is milled in this country while the soft wheats are known as export wheats and go largely to seaboard.

Soft water flow hit by drilling city well deeper
Drilling work was finished Monday on the city well near the municipal building, and tests show the water is practically as soft as other city wells.
Before drilling a deeper hole, the water in the well was about three times harder than the other city water.
J.W. Queen of Spokane had the drilling contract and went down an additional 151 1/2 feet, which added to the 318 foot previous depth of the well, makes it now 469 1/2 feet deep. A 12 inch hole ws drilled, going through two layers of hard roc before satisfactory water was secured.
