RITZVILLE – Fifteen local youngsters got in some Christmas shopping, Saturday, Dec. 11, with the help of more than a dozen members of local law enforcement agencies, first responders and members of their families.
The annual event organized by Police Chief Dave McCormick provided shopping opportunities for the children to shop at Ritzville Drug Store and Love's Travel Stop.
Participating families were also given gift certificates for local grocery stores.
In all $1,600 worth of grocery gift certificates were distributed.
Shopping this year were Wylie Land, Jessie Land, Kobie Bolek, Aiden Instasi, Lana Adamson, Dante Reynolds, Tobias Reynolds, RayRay Reynolds, Aiden McPherson, Jaxon Duchesneau, Samantha Cody, Erickah Cody, David Giesen, Hanna Giesen and Gunner Giesen.
Each child received a shopping bag filled with wrapping supplies including wrapping paper, ribbons, gift tags and tape - to wrap gifts when they got home.
The program is made possible by donations from local businesses, the Ritzville Volunteer Fire Department, Chamber of Commerce and local residents.
Funds are managed by the Ritzville Chamber of Commerce. Donations for next year can be sent to P.O. Box 122, Ritzville, WA 99169. Write "Shop with a Cop" in the memo portion of a check.
