Shaver wins bronze

SPANGLE – Two Lind-Ritzville wrestlers earned a total of 10 team points Saturday at the Brice Williams Invitational at Liberty High School, with one grappler bringing home bronze.

At 220 pounds, junior Carson Shaver opened with a bye and was pinned in 55 seconds in the semifinal by Riddek Piat of Hanford.

Shaver received a bye in the third round of the tournament and then pinned Elijah Shelton of Jenkins (Chewelah) in just 17 seconds to take third place.

The win and place were good for 10 team points for the Broncos.

Meanwhile, at 182 pounds, sophomore Gabe Smith was eliminated in the second round.

He lost his first match to Samuel Schneider of Davenport, by pin in 1:38. In his consolation round match, he was pinned in 2:34 by Decon Medeiros of Kettle Falls in 2:34.
