RITZVILLE – Ritzville high school social studies teacher, Bryce Court was recognized by the high school for going "Above and Beyond" the last week of October. Before coming to teach in Ritzville, Court taught in Idaho for ten years and Oregon for six years. He began his tenure at Ritzville high school three years ago. Court worked with school officials to devise an academic schedule that would fit the new scheduling requirements.
The high school used to have seven periods a day and had to readjust the schedule for five periods a day instead. Court adjusted the spreadsheets several times and was able to come up with a schedule to benefit all the students. Court said he is a little embarrassed about the award, because he said, "People pay huge money for logic problems and the school gave me this one for free."
He said it was a huge logic problem on how to get two semesters into three trimesters. "It was definitely not all me." he added. He noted that Anne Trunkle-Smart, counselor and Kevin Terris, principal also worked with him to revise the schedule. According to Terris, "He became instrumental in manipulating the schedule so that students' options were very flexible. He really is a master at seeing the dominoes fall as we made suggestions of what we wanted to do for our students." Court came up with a schedule that made sense to both administrators and students.
