QUINCY – Three people were transported to area hospitals following a Nov. 18 crash on state Highway 281.
Eduardo E. Ramirez Rodriguez, 17, of Othello, was airlifted to a Spokane Medical center, the Washington State Patrol reported. And Gerardo M. Maldonado, 48, and Agustina P. Maldonado, 45, both of Quincy, were taken to a local hospital.
According to the patrol, Rodriguez was eastbound on Road 5 Northwest in a 2006 Honda Civic at about 3:47 p.m. when he allegedly failed to yield the right-of-way to a southbound vehicle on state Highway 281.
Rodriguez attempted to turn left on to the highway and struck Gerardo Maldonado’s 2000 Cadillac Escalade, the patrol said.
The Honda ended up in the eastbound ditch along Road 5 Northwest and the Escalade came to rest blocking the northbound left-turn lane, the patrol said.
Neither drugs nor alcohol was a factor in the crash, the patrol said, noting the cause of the crash was failure to yield the right-of-way.
Chargers are pending against Rodriguez, the patrol said.
