LIND – The Wheat-Lind Coffee House will open downtown Nov. 13.
Owner Heather Reed, 31, is a former Wenatchee resident who hopes to bring "community and coffee back into the area," she said.
Reed moved to the area after purchasing a house and wanted to start a business.
"I am always helping others start a business," she said. "But I have always wanted to start my own."
Reed said that after she learned that Kendra's coffee house had gone out of business at 103 N. I St., she decided to start a new coffee shop in the same location.
Regarding the name of the shop, she said, "It was a play on words and I wanted to target it to the local area, which is based in wheat agriculture.
"I just want a place where people can gather and drink coffee."
Wheat-Lind will offer typical items such as coffee, energy drinks, pastries and a variety of teas.
Reed intends to offer prepackaged dessert items and smoothies in the future.
She also plans to have sugar free items, dairy alternatives and hopes to cater to specialized diets, as well.
Along with an assortment of items, she plans to have local vendor products for sale in her shop.
Looking further into the future, she wants to have community events such as paint and sip, book clubs, art galleries, game nights, live music, etc.
Reed said there has been a lot of community interest and support in the shop so far.
"It has been amazing, it settled some of my nerves going into this," she said.
The new shop will initially be open 6-9 a.m. Monday through Friday and 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, she said, noting she may extend hours in the future.
