SPRAGUE – A local girl who moved here four years ago from Cheney has been crowned Sprague High School Homecoming queen.
Senior Chloe Melton, 17, moved here in eighth-grade. She is involved in several school clubs including the Environmental Club, Future Farmers of America and trapshooting.
During her free time, she likes to ride horses, trap shoot and play softball. She also likes to hang out with friends, play hide and seek strategy games such as Fugitive, and go to lake bonfires.
Melton admits she had some stiff competition, so she was surprised she got elected as queen.
"I am a hard worker, and when I put my mind to it, I can accomplish things pretty easily," she said adding that it is quite an honor and she is grateful to represent her school.
Sprague King
A fourth-generation resident was crowned Sprague Homecoming king last week.
Senior Tucker Osbourne, 17, represented the school at Homeoming festivities last week. He is the son of Amanda Osbourne, who works in the Human Resources Department at East Adam’s Healthcare, and Kevin Osbourne, a certified welder at Haakon Industries in Cheney.
“I feel honored to represent Sprague High School,” he said. “I really like a challenge.”
Osbourne said he and his parents have always lived in the Sprague area.
“I am at least a fourth generation Sprague resident,” he said.
Osbourne is involved in many school activities.
He is the Sprague Future Farmers of America Treasurer. Osbourne will be going to the national FFA convention in Indianapolis, Ind.
Outside of school, Tucker likes working on his pickup truck.
He has two dogs, three pigs and likes to listen to classical country music, bonfires and playing, Fugitive, a game that’s a cross between hide-and-seek, tag and capture the flag
After graduation, he plans a career in the U.S. Army National Guard and become a truck driver.
