Whitmore named Seahawks' Coach of the Week

SEATTLE - Lind-Ritzville-Sprague Head Football Coach, Greg Whitmore, was named a Seahawks' high school coach of the week, for week 1 of the 2021 high school football season.

Written, October 1, on the Seahawks.com Friday round up "Coach Whitmore's Broncos have had their struggles over the past few years, but in Week 1, they were able to upset a top-ranked team in the Liberty Lancers, 18-7. This was Lind-Ritzville's first victory over Liberty in seven seasons."

Asked about the award following the LRS win over Northwest Christian on September 24, Whitmore shrugged and said "that one is all about the kids."

Each week during the high school football season, the Seahawks and the Washington State Football Coaches Association select two high school football coaches as the Coach of the Week winners. Each recipient receives a $500 donation to the school's football program plus a framed certificate signed by Seahawks Head Coach Pete Carroll.

Sharing week 1 honors with Whitmore was Jason Ronquillo of Yelm High School. The Yelm Tornados recorded a 34-18 win over the Lincoln Abes in Week 1.
