RITZVILLE – The Lind-Ritzville FFA Floriculture Team participated in an internship, September 25, hosted by the American Institute of Floral Designers.
Initially the students were to travel to the AIFD National Conference in Chicago. Because of COVID-19 the AIFD conference was canceled, but the students were hosted in a virtual internship workshop, in the Ritzville Ag Shop and classroom, with AIFD certified designers.
In advance of the workshop, floral items were shipped from Green Point Nursery in Kealakai, Hawaii. Designers showed the students an example of what they were going to make, and then took them step by step through the process of making of the arrangement.
Annika Holland created a particularly beautiful design. AIFD Designers participating in the workshop said "she was very successful in creating line and depth in that arrangement."
Other FFA Chapters, from around the nation, invited to participate in the internship included Palmyra Missouri, Pelham Georgia, Woodbury Connecticut, Mishicot Wisconsin, Weber Utah, and Howard Lake Waverly Winsted Minnesota. The Lind-Ritzville advisor is Amanda Mattingly.
