Kelly's father said his son was inspired by Gonzaga basketball coach Stacy Clinesmith, who said pushing yourself outside your comfort zone with your passions is where you grow.

RITZVILLE – The girls' basketball team enters this week's play-offs seeded number one, with a home game against St. George's Tuesday, June 15.
"We were in a 3-way tie with Liberty and Davenport, and since we beat both of them, it gave us the number-one seed," said Head Coach Steve Wellsandt Monday morning. "It will be good to play at home."
Wellsandt said the games are single-elimination, but if they win Tuesday they will face the winner of the Colfax/Kettle Falls game Thursday, June 17. Winners go on to a third and final game Saturday, June 19.
The girls beat Davenport at home 39-37 June 7.
"We were down by 10 at one point, but we came back and beat them," Wellsandt said, adding Grace Fedie had four 3-pointers. "That was a real highlight, because we didn't shoot the ball that well, other than that."
They traveled to Colfax June 8, losing 58-50 after being tied at halftime. Wellsandt said it was the most points they'd given up all season, other than a non-league game against Warden Saturday, June 12, which they lost 37-67.
The girls beat Asotin 53-23 at home Friday, June 11.
"It was nice, we got everyone in the game, including some JV kids who have been on the bench, so that was a great opportunity," Wellsandt said.
The boys, ranked seed No. 5, were scheduled to play seed No. 4 Davenport Monday, June 14. The winner of that game plays again Wednesday, June 16, and those winners plays Friday, June 18.
The Broncos beat Warden at home Saturday, June 12, 72-55. Drew Kelly scored 21, Chase Galbreath put in 20, Hayden Melcher scored 10, Josh McClure put in 7 and Hunter Dinkins and Cooper Miller each scored 6.
The previous evening, the Broncos beat Asotin, 70-30. Galbreath led in scoring with 19, and Kelly had 16. McClure, Dinkins, and Carson Ayers each scored 8.
