Robert Arthur Bewick

Robert A. (Bob) Bewick, 75, passed away peacefully at his family farm and lifelong home near Sprague, Wash on the evening of Sun., May 23rd, 2021, exactly where he wanted to be.

He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years Sandra Johnson Bewick, his son Chris (Staci) Bewick, grandchildren Jackson and Joshua Bewick, sister JoLane (Ken) Danielson, niece JeriLane Wing, nephew Jeff Slaaen, and a whole tribe of nieces and nephews with Sandy's sister Margie Haley(deceased).

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Alice Bewick. Born in Ritzville Sept. 13, 1945, Bob attended Sprague schools for 12 years where he played many sports and graduated in 1963. He attended Yakima Valley College until 1965, and then enlisted in the Air Force. He worked as an aircraft mechanic based in Bitburg, Germany for three years serving as Crew Chief for the T-39 Sabreliner, and also working in Transit Alert. He was discharged at the rank of Staff Sgt. In 1971 Bob received his license in Airframe and Power Plant Operation.

After his military service Bob reconnected with his high school sweetheart Sandra Lee Johnson in Phoenix, Ariz. and they married in 1971. In the early 1970s Bob worked for Senator Scott Barr running a cattle ranch, and then returned to Sprague to raise wheat and create the J and B Cattle Co. with his father, Joe Bewick. When Joe retired Bob carried on J&B with his brother- in-law, Ken Danielson. He took great pride in all his work and the pursuit of excellence.

When not working Bob enjoyed attending pro-rodeo events with his wife and friends. He also cherished time with his family and grandchildren, fishing and hunting, and pack trips with his friends to the mountains of Washington and Idaho.

Bob served on the board of the Sprague Grange supply for many years, and was an active Fire Commissioner for the Lincoln County Fire Protection District #1 until the time of his death. He was awarded an honorary lifetime membership by the fire district in 2001.

Robert Bewick was loved and respected by his peers, friends and family. He touched many lives and made a positive difference in this world.

There will be a Memorial service held at St John's Lutheran Church in Sprague, Wash. starting at 11:00 a.m. on Fri. June 11, 2021.
