RITZVILLE – Julia Klein, a senior at Lind-Ritzville High School, was selected to receive a $2,500 STAR Scholarship from the P.E.O. (Philanthropic Educational Organization) Sisterhood. She was recommended by P.E.O. Chapter AR of Ritzville.
Julia is the daughter of Jake and Alisha Klein. She has grown up on their multi-generation family wheat farm near Ritzville. She has been very active in her community and has enjoyed being involved with varsity sports, FFA, National Honor Society, Link Crew, FBLA, and Washington High School Equestrian Team.
This year she had the opportunity to serve as Ritzville Rodeo Queen and Washington Wheat Ambassador.
She will be attending Southern Nazarene University, a smaller private Christian school in Bethany, Oklahoma where she plans to obtain a B.S. in Biology/Pre-Medicine and eventually a Doctorate of Chiropractic. She ultimately wants to become a chiropractor because she has a heart for helping others.
The P.E.O. STAR Scholarship was established in 2009 to provide scholarships for exceptional high school senior women to attend an accredited postsecondary educational institution in the U.S. or Canada in the next academic year. The competitive STAR Scholarship is for women who exhibit excellence in leadership, academics, extracurricular activities, community service and potential for future success.
