Broncos host Kettle Falls, Wilbur-Creston

RITZVILLE – Lind-Ritzville-Sprague hosted Kettle Falls for a tennis match Saturday, May 8.

Doubles team Serena Block and Alexis Melcher defeated Kettle Falls' Karyss Pfeffer and Megan MacArthur 6-2, 7-5.

In singles, Amy Anderson lost to Kettle Falls' Deja Lewis 1-6, 2-6.

Hunter Cameron had an automatic win due to Kettle Falls not having a boys' program. In an exhibition match, Cameron lost to Ashley Lawrence 2-6, 3-6.

The team hosted Wilbur-Creston to play "for fun" Thursday, May 6. Scores were not available at press time.

The team traveled to Spokane to play St. George's Saturday, May 1.

In 1st singles, Cameron lost 2-6, 2-6.

"He had an exceptional match," Head Coach Janna Gingrich said. "He was quick on his feet and made some really tough returns."

In girls' first singles, Anderson defeated Addy Lennemann 6-4, 6-1.

"Amy had some strong serves with several aces," Gingrich said. "She did well at placing her shots to earn many of her points."

In 1st Doubles, Block and Melcher lost to Zodie Rigsby and Dana Mogerson 5-7, 3-6.

"Both ladies played hard," Gingrich said. "Serena did a great job covering the net and Alexis had excellent hustle at the baseline and was able to return a lot of challenging shots."

The Broncos were scheduled for culminating events in Chewelah Tuesday, May 11, and again May 13.
