ATTEMPT ROBBERY OF OTHELLO BANK
Some time Monday night or early Tuesday morning the banking room of the Othello State Bank at Othello was entered and an attempt made to enter the vault. The burglar first broke the combination lock knob with a maul, but as that did not avail he tried to dig through the wall. He found after stripping the outer covering that the vault was of concrete which didn't yield very readily, so he desisted in his efforts, left his tools and escaped through the back door.

Controls Asked of
Cut-Across Traffic
Adams County seeks to stop truck-trailer units using the Ritzville cut-across. Heavy trucks traveling fast on narrow Weber road endanger their children, residents of 16 homes on South Jackson street complained in a petition presented Adams county commissioners Tuesday morning. Larry Kison recited that the availability of the route as a shortcut apparently has spread by word of mouth, and has multiplied alarmingly over a period of years.

Lind school modernization
project complete except
for punch list items
The Lind School District Board, at its last meeting on March 25, heard the report from Ed Champagne of Architects West that the high school modernization project is complete except for punch list items and a portion of the vocational agriculture shop. Final inspection of the elevator was to be completed on March 25. The final clean-up portion of the project was discussed, noting that the district chose to utilize their own staff in order to lower the contract amount.
