Dakota Killian selected as 2022 Distinguished Young Woman

Contestants bring talent, poise, intellect, beauty and friendship to Showcase event

RITZVILLE - Lind-Ritzville's Distinguished Young Women Showcase event brought four young women vying for scholarships and awards to the stage to show off their talents Sunday, Mar. 28.

Dakota Killian was chosen as the 2022 Distinguished Young Woman, with her friends and colleagues in the competition honored for their own individual strengths. Sydney Kinch was chosen as the First Finalist, and Amelia Court and Annika Holland each earned the title of Second Finalist.

All four girls were awarded scholarships with a combined total of $4,050, thanks to generous gifts from community members including Dena Freese-Roberts, The Ritzville Festival Association, Shane and Caitlin Strohmaier, the law firm of McGuire, DeWulf, Kragt & Johnson PS, Steve and Kim Schofstoll, Northwest Farm Credit Services, Andy and Amy Wellsandt, The Ritzville Warehouse Co., Barbara Jolly, Dale and Julie Galbreath, Terry and Ann Olson, John and Stacey Schoessler, and The Friends of DYW.

Grace Saint John, the 2021 Distinguished Woman, served as the Master of Ceremonies, with Sara Dirks chairing the program.
