RITZVILLE – The Lind-Ritzville/Sprague/Washtucna/Kahlotus Broncos hosted the Odessa Tigers Saturday, Mar. 13, sweeping the visitors 25-11, 25-23, 25-15.
"Yesterday's match was great," Head Coach Cari Galbreath said Sunday. "The team played so well together. Defensively we fought and didn't let balls go down without fighting for them. That effort prevented the Tigers from gaining points, and propelled our offensive game. It was a full and complete team win on our part."
Odessa Head Coach Susan Deife said leading her team with aces was Hayden Schuh with three, and five block touches. Mellony Deife had 16 assists, Emily Scrupps had seven kills, Schuh had two blocks and Ashlyn Neilsen helped with digs.
"The Odessa Tigers played tough in the second set, but came up short," Deife said of a closely-contested set where the teams were often tied or the visitors were in the lead.
Deife said her team ended it's season with a win against Harrington Saturday along with the loss to Ritzville. They finished the season 8-1 in league play.
Earlier in the week, the Broncos traveled to Colbert for a match against Northwest Christian.
"We started out very clean and strong, and then we started having unforced errors offensively and lack of awareness defensively," Galbreath said. "But I think we learned and then turned around on Saturday and played so much better."
The Broncos are scheduled to host St. George's Tuesday, Mar. 16, before traveling to Reardan Mar. 18. Their next home game is against Asotin Mar. 23.
