Community invited to weigh in on education

RITZVILLE — An online community forum is planned for Wednesday evening, March 3, from 6 to 7 p.m.

"Say Yes to Education — Expanding Community Support for Education in Lind Ritzville" is the kick-off event to a two-year effort to bring greater resources and support to local students and schools.

"Together, community members, parents, teachers and school administrators will begin to shape common hopes and dreams for children growing up in Lind and Ritzville," Superintendent Don Vanderholm said. "Participation is an essential element in re-imagining the future of our schools and the voice of the community is central to these efforts.

The one-hour event will be facilitated by Dr. Molly Kreyssler with Bloom Coaching, an organization dedicated to inspiring community to create a common vision that empowers individuals to become their best selves.

Innovia Foundation received funding from College Spark Washington for an initiative designed to increase opportunities for students in five rural school districts across Eastern Washington. Working with the Center for Educational Effectiveness, a survey will be launched to local stakeholders in the community. Results from the survey will be used to "take the pulse" on school-community connections and uncover new approaches to improve educational outcomes for local students.

To join the March 3 forum, contact Sara Bain at 509 951 0627, email her at [email protected] or go to the link on the school district website.
