WARRANT CHARGES DUDMAN, BROKER, WITH DEFRAUDING
A warrant sworn to by H.J. Leupp of Washtucna charging Harry Dudman, broker, with fraud, was issued by Justice McCollom Tuesday, calling for the arrest of Dudman. With the issuance of the warrant publicity may be taken to the steps which have been taken in recent weeks by those who purchased stock in the Bethlehem Gold Mines, Ltd., for which Dudman acted as fiscal agent. Thousands of shares of stock were sold by Mr. Dudman in Adams County and in Lincoln County. Dudman came to Ritzville and operated offices in the later part of 1918.

Julia Wellsandt
Rescued From Ship
Julia Wellsandt, sister of Miss Wilhelmina Wellsandt of Ritzville, was one of the survivors taken off the ill-fated steamer, Yukon, which went aground off the bleak Alaskan coast February 3. She was taken to Seward and apparently suffered no ill effects from her experiences. Julia, who was recovering from a broken ankle, had just left the hospital at Anchorage and was aboard the steamer en route to Juneau when the tragedy occurred. She came to live with her sister in Ritzville when the Japanese threatened the Alaskan coast and remained here for the better part of three years.

City Debates Treasurer Post
Divided opinion over combining the city clerk and treasurer offices surfaced at city council meeting Tuesday. Councilman Roy Langenheder, upon call for third reading of an ordinance to effect the change, said he couldn’t “buy” it because it places too much power in one place. He expressed his belief the added help needed in the clerk’s office will cost more than the $95 a month salary the city now pays elective treasurer Arthur Hirning.

Health advisory issued
by county health district
Recent snowmelt, extensive runoff and area flooding has prompted the Adams County Health District to issue a health advisory for drinking water wells located in low lying areas or adjacent to streams or other drainage ways. The department said these wells may become contaminated. If a well has been flooded and water is discolored, residents are advised to boil it for 10 minutes before drinking or using it to brush teeth.
