DECEMBER 11
Fire – East I-90 near milepost 238 Ritzville
Report of a large fire with eight-foot flames near a barn on the south side of I-90 near milepost 238. Deputies arrived and were only able to locate a small controlled fire on the front porch of a residence. Deputies advised Adams County and Lincoln County FIRE Departments.
Burglary – South Lind-Hatton Road and West Sutton Road Othello
Report of a cold burglary at the location in the last two weeks. Incident was discovered the day prior, and an air compressor was stolen. Investigation is ongoing.
Suspicious – 2000 block West Bench Road Othello
Report of attempted fraud at a local business. The complainant advised of an unknown subject calling the store the previous night. The unknown subject told employees to get money out of the till to pay for products that were to be delivered and named the manager and told them she had okayed the transaction. The employees contacted the manager, confirmed the information from the call to be fictitious and no one ever arrived to collect the money.
Citizen Assist – 2100 block West Highway 26 Othello
Report of medical fraud with the complainant requesting phone contact. The complainant advised receiving a notice from a collection agency in reference to unpaid medical bills. Complainant advised they never received treatment at the facility. Complainant was advised to contact medical facility.
Standby Peace – 2200 block West Shelly Road Othello
Complainant requested a standby peace to clean up the property of her tenant. Deputies advised the landlord, while the tenant was renting the property, they had the authority over it. She stated she understood. They cleaned up some garbage from around the property, but never went inside any buildings.
Traffic Offense – 1200 block South 1st Avenue Othello
Deputies conducted a traffic stop at the above location, and the driver was found to have a suspended license in the thirrd degree. Thirty-year-old Aaron D. Castro of Othello was arrested, cited, and released from the scene.
Suspicious – West Bench Road and South McKinney Road Othello
Suspicious call at the above location. Deputies contacted a subject who was walking on the side of the road. Nothing suspicious was observed.
DECEMBER 12
Nuisance/Noise – West June Street and South Allen Road Othello
Anonymous complaint of noise at the location. No deputies were in the area to respond.
Theft – West Rosenoff Road and North Damon Road Ritzville
Deputies responded to a theft of mail at the location. The discarded mail was located, a package containing a hat was stolen. Investigation is ongoing.
Alarm – 2200 block West Cunningham Road Othello
Dispatch advised of sensor activation at the location. Deputies responded and found the initial sensor trip area to be secure. During a check of the location, deputies found an unlocked door and made entry to check for unauthorized visitors. The location was found to be unoccupied.
Nuisance/Noise – 800 block South Highway 24 Othello
Noise complaint at the location. Deputies spoke to the person responsible and the music was shut off.
DECEMBER 13
Medical – 700 block South Reynolds Road Othello
Deputies responded to a medical call at the location. Deputies assisted EMS by driving the ambulance.
Burglary – 600 block South Drury Lane Othello
Complainant reported an attempted residential burglary at the location. Deputies contacted the complaintant and determined the vacant residence was not entered, but the building had a damaged window. Investigation is ongoing.
Fraud – 2000 block West Horacio Lane Othello
Report of fraudulent activity on a credit card. Deputies determined the account was compromised by an unknown subject in an attempt to purchase items from a western Washington big box store. The transaction was cancelled by the complainant and no funds/property was lost.
DECEMBER 14
Fraud – 1100 block North Seivers Lane Ritzville
Complainant advised being made aware of fraudulent activity. Complainant was notified of the fraudulent activity approximately four months prior which has been an ongoing issue. Complainant has already notified appropriate companies/agencies and was advised to make a report with law enforcement.
Citizen Assist – East Benge-Winona Road Benge
Whitman County advised of a stranded motorist near the area. Deputies responded to the location and checked into a neighboring county. Deputies were unable to locate any stranded motorists.
Death Investigation – 800 block South Highway 24 Othello
Complainant contacted dispatch to advise his elderly father did not appear to be breathing. Deputies and EMS arrived on scene and determined complainant’s father was deceased. A death investigation was conducted. The coroner was contacted and advised to place deceased in the care of the funeral home until a doctor could be reached.
Abandoned Vehicle – South Athey Road and West Atkinson Road Othello
Complainant contacted dispatch to report an abandoned boat on his property that he was wishing to have inspected for a junk vehicle affidavit.
Fraud – 2200 block West Rainier Road Othello
Complainant advised receiving fraudulent phone calls. Complainant stated this is an ongoing issue.
Malicious Mischief – 2700 block West Highway 26 Othello
Complainant advised her son was out of control. Deputies arrived on scene and contacted the complainant. Complainant stated she was worried about her son and wanted law enforcement to check his wellbeing. Subject advised of ongoing anger issues and would be transported by the complainant for a voluntary evaluation.
Suspicious 911 – 2100 block Wst Clyde Lane Othello
Deputies were dispatched to a 911 hang-up at the location. The area was checked and contact was made with residents at the apartment buildings who were not in distress and denied calling 911.
Suspicious – 800 block South Reynolds Road Othello
Deputies contacted suspicious vehicles and subjects at the fairgrounds during hours of darkness. The subjects advised they would leave the area.
Animal Problem – West Hampton Road and South McKinney Road Othello
Report of cattle on the roadway.
Citizen Assist – 2100 block West July Street Othello
Deputies were dispatched to a threatening call. Deputies investigated and determined the call was a scam. Scam caller did not have information about complainant and was requesting money. Subject advised he would block the number.
Civil Matter – 2800 block West Bench View Lane Othello
Report of theft of a vehicle. Deputies determined an employee had possession of the vehicle. Complainant was advised the issue was civil as the vehicle is utilize by the employee.
DECEMBER 15
Suspicious – South Hillcrest Road and South Ridgeview Loop Othello
Complainant advised of two suspicious vehicles in the area, stopping at different residences. Deputies checked the area but were unable to locate any vehicles matching the description provided.
Theft – 600 block South Drury Lane Othello
Complainant advised of theft of packages from her residence. Complainant was unable to provide detailed information and advised she would return at a later date when information was obtained.
Alarm – 1800 block North Seivers Road Ritzville
False alarm.
Hazardous Condition – 700 block South Heeb Lane Othello
Report of a street light dangling off a power line. Deputies observed the street light on. Big Bend later fixed the issue.
Suspicious – West April Street and South Andes Road Othello
Report of a red passenger vehicle driving around the area without head lights.
DECEMBER 16
Agency Assist – 200 block East 1st Avenue Ritzville
Deputies responded to a report of an unwanted subject and assisted the Ritzville Police Department at the scene. The subject was transported from the scene and obtained a ride to Idaho.
Traffic Accident – South Lind-Hatton Road Hatton
Complainant contacted dispatch to advise of a slide-off traffic collision. Deputies conducted investigation and a local tow arrived and removed the vehicle from the scene.
Welfare Check – 200 block East 3rd Street Lind
Spokane County requested a welfare check on a subject. Deputies checked the residence but were unable to locate the subject or contact anyone at the location. Deputies were later advised the subject had a different address and the information would be passed along to appropriate agency.
Animal Problem – East Wellsandt Road Ritzville
Report of cattle on the roadway.
Traffic Hazard – South Highway 17 and West Lee Road Othello
Report of a vehicle driving erratically. Deputies contacted the vehicle and determined its driver did not know how to activate the vehicle’s lights after dark. Deputies assisted the motorist with activating the vehicle’s lights.
Agency Assist – 200 block Apple Alley Lane Hatton
Richland Police requested assistance with a next of kin notification at the location. Deputies along with the Richland Police Chaplain responded to the location finding the deceased’s family member not living there anymore.
Fire – 1700 block West Providence Road Othello
Report of a downed power line which was sparking. Deputies arrived along with fire crews. The top portion of the power pole was broken off and on fire upon arrival. Fire crews controlled the scene and Avista Utilities was contacted to assist.
Agency Assist – East I-90 near milepost 231 Ritzville
Report of a traffic collision with an unknown number of vehicles involved. Deputies observed only one vehicle involved and assisted WSP until no longer needed.
DECEMBER 17
Agency Assist – 1000 block Pine Avenue Ritzville
Deputies assisted the Ritzville Police Department with a domestic call at the location. A subject was transported by deputies to the Adams County Jail for Assault Second Degree Domestic Violence.
Alarm – 2000 block Bench Road Othello
False alarm.
Agency Assist – West Highway 24 near milepost 74 Othello
Deputies responded to multiple road slide-offs caused by inclement weather and assisted WSP with traffic control.
Traffic Accident – 2300 block West McManamon Road Othello
Report of a traffic collision with no injuries and non-blocking traffic. Call was pinged to the top of the hill on McManamon Road and later located in the 2300 block. Collision was a single vehicle roll-over.
Traffic Accident – 2300 block West McManamon Road Othello
While responding to a reported traffic collision, a red 2005 Kia was located slid off the roadway by deputies. There were no reported injuries and property damage to a fence and the vehicle was documented.
Suspicious – 500 block East Urquhart Road Ritzville
Complainant advised of a suspicious vehicle entering his property and triggering security cameras. Deputies checked the location and observed multiple tire tracks which were documented. Complainant provided security footage of the suspicious vehicle which was no longer on scene.
Citizen Assist – West Bench Road Othello
Complainant requested a phone call regarding having an active court order against a subject that is employed at the same place. It was determined the complainant contacted the subject and not the other way around.
Citizen Assist – 1300 block North Highway 261 Ritzville
Complainant advised of possible shotgun buckshot pellets in the tread of his vehicle’s tire. Deputies arrived on scene and determined the suspected buckshot pellets were ball bearings, and determined no criminal activity occurred.
