Merry Christmas from the Lind Community Church –
In this season of advent, we can turn our hearts to the study of Scripture pertaining to the first coming of our Lord and Savior:
Isa. 7:14 – “Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel.
Matt. 1:23 – “Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which is translated, “God with us.”
Luke 1:26-33 – Now in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. The virgin’s name was Mary. And having come in, the angel said to her, “Rejoice, highly favored one, the Lord is with you; blessed are you among women!”
But when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and considered what manner of greeting this was. Then the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name Jesus. He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David. And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end.”
John 1:1-3 – In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.
John 1:14 – And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we behold His glory, and the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.
Phil. 2:5-11 – Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
As was foretold in Scripture, the omnipotent, omniscient, holy, righteous, and sovereign creator of the universe came to be born of a virgin and to dwell among men; only to suffer a humiliating death upon the cross bearing the sins of world upon His shoulders. His obedience unto the father, His sacrificial death upon the cross, led to His resurrection from death to life.
God, with us ---
In this season of Joy we remember the birth of the baby Jesus, the Second Person of the Trinity. The greater cause for joy, however, is the knowledge that God in the person of Jesus Christ left the heavenly throne room and came to dwell amongst us. He came to seek and save the lost, to die for those who would place their faith in Him, at the hands of those who would reject Him.
He came once, He’s coming again. Only the Father in heaven knows the day, we as believers pray that it’s soon.
Merry Christmas from the Lind Community Church. Feel free to join us for a Candle-light Service at 5 pm on the December 24th.
