AVA L. WAHL

AVA LAVELLE WAHL, a former long-time resident of Lind, Washington, peacefully passed away on Saturday, December 5, 2020 in Walla Walla Washington.

Ava was born September 14, 1931, to Forest (Bus) and Edith Neal Gunter in Sheridan Wyoming. The family later moved to Post Falls, Idaho and Coeur d’Alene, Idaho where Ava attended high school.

After high school Ava attended Kinman Business School where she met her future husband, Lenard L. Wahl. They were married in Coeur d’Alene on September 2, 1950 and made their home in Lind, Washington. Ava embraced being a wheat farmer’s wife and the community of Lind. They raised four children: Linda, Gary, Bonnie and Patti.

Ava was an active member of the Lind United Methodist Church and was very involved with activities in the community such as Tridecem Club, Lind Senior Center, and Meals on Wheels. She was one of the Ronald McDonald House cookie ladies. Ava enjoyed homemaking, cooking and gardening. She especially loved her roses. She was a wonderful Grandma, always helping out at a moments notice. The family home was continually filled with friends and family. Ava loved dancing to her father’s (Bus) lively saxophone music and friend’s piano playing. Ava always greeted everyone with a smile, even when she later moved to Walla Walla. She resided in Parkview at Wheatland Village near her daughter Linda and family. She received excellent care at Parkview.

Ava was preceded in death by her husband Lenard in 1996 and her son Gary in 2012. She is survived by Linda (Doug) Borth, Patrice Schilling, Bonnie (Dale) Grams and Janice Tilton Wahl. Ava has ten grandchildren: Shaun, David, Andy, Stephanie, Jessica, Courtney, Christi, Tyler, Jordan and Ray. Ava has 10 great-grandchildren.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions a memorial service will be at later time. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Ronald McDonald House of Spokane.
