Elmer Jacob Sackmann was born Oct. 1, 1928 in Ritzville, WA to Anna Klettke Sackmann and Jacob Sackmann. He passed away on Nov. 26, 2020 in Moses Lake, WA.
He lived his entire life in Lind and was a lifelong farmer until his retirement in 1997. He spent from 1952-1954 in the Army Corps of Engineers building and maintaining airfields mostly in the Aleutian Islands in Alaska.
In 1964 he married Erlene Weston and gained an instant family he never referred to his children as stepchildren they were his children. He belonged to the Lind Fire Dept. and was also an EMT. He was also a member of the Lind Active Club now Lions Club and a member of the Lind Calvary Assembly of God Church.
He loved his family even those far away, camping, fishing, traveling, farming, telling stories and just talking to his friends. His most loved and favorite possession was a pair of binoculars that was given to him by his son Gage almost 50 years ago.
He was preceded in death by his parents Anna and Jacob, brothers Elton, Clarence and Norman, wife Erlene, son Jon and daughters Kathie and Beverly. Surviving are his children Jan (Pete) Beshara of Marcola, Oregon and son Gage also of Marcola, Oregon Grandchildren Carin Monroe, Bobbi Jo Timm, Shawn Thacker, John (Christie) Hankins, Evelyn (Philip) Lai and Pete (Rina) Huseby, 15 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great-Great-Grandson and numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held at Danekas Funeral Home in Ritzville, WA on Dec. 3, 2020 starting at 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. A funeral service will be held Dec. 4, 2020 at the Lind Calvary Assembly Of God Church in Lind, WA starting at 11:00 am., followed by a public burial at Lind Cemetery. After the service there will be a reception held at the church.
Covid-19 protocols will be followed by wearing mask and social distancing.
