RITZVILLE – Winter Fest is soon upon us, and the Chamber of Commerce has announced the schedule for this year’s Jingle Bell Shop, Gingerbread Contest, Holiday Word Search, Tree Lighting, and Ritzville’s first-ever Santa Parade.
The Gingerbread Contest is virtual this year, so entries can be submitted anytime from now until Dec. 18. Just email a photo of your baked and bedecked creation to [email protected]. The photograph will be posted to the Chamber’s Facebook page, and the one with the most “likes” wins. So the sooner, the better.
The Jingle Bell Shop event returns, allowing folks to submit a ticket every time they shop locally, from Nov. 28 through Dec. 21. With each purchase, customers can submit an entry for a drawing on Dec. 22, when three prizes will be awarded. Businesses who want to participate can contact the chamber for tickets and a collection box.
Do you want your family or business’s name remembered for years to come in a fun, new tradition? As a way of recognizing and celebrating community spirit, the chamber is welcoming individuals to create an ornament for this year’s Town Christmas Tree. The ornaments can be customized to represent your family or your business.
The Holiday Word Search is another fun way for community members to enjoy each other and all the town has to offer. Every participating business will receive a letter to post in the window or on the door of their business. Individuals and families will then record where they find each letter, and the entrant with most holiday words created from the letters they found will receive a prize. Business owners and employees are also welcome to join the fun.
The Chamber will be hosing their first-ever Santa Parade Dec. 12. This novel approach asks participants to put on a Santa hat, but rather than the traditional Santa suit, don an outfit that portrays Santa in your own unique way. Do you work in the medical field and want to wear scrubs? How about a Cowboy Santa, Wheat Farmer Kris Kringle or a vacationing Surf Santa? Use your imagination to join in the merriment. The parade will loop through the downtown district on Main and Broadway avenues, starting at 1 p.m.
Chamber spokesmen said while they have faced many challenges this year with scheduling events due to the pandemic, they remain focused on providing activities to the community and support to local businesses. With many events held virtually, community members are asked to follow the Ritzville Chamber of Commerce on Facebook.
