RITZVILLE - Athletic Director Greg Whitmore announced Oct. 6, athletic camps will begin next week, after the WIAA opened up the coaching window from now through the end of November for coaches to conduct some summer-like camp activities for high school and middle school athletes.
"Starting Monday, we are fortunate and excited to be allowed to do some of these activities like we did in July," Whitmore said, adding there were still lots of details to work out and he is meeting with coaches, administrators and transportation to work those out.
Whitmore said to expect more details leading up to next Monday, but for now:
Session 1 will begin next Monday, October 12th and go for about 2 weeks. Outdoor sports will go first to take advantage of favorable weather.
Session 1 Sports: HS Football/MS Football/HS Softball/Golf/HS Baseball/Cross Country/Track/Cheer
Possibly: /MS Softball/MS Baseball, but some of these depend on interest and availability of coaches.
As of now, practice times will begin at approximately 3:30 pm and last approximately 1 - 1.5 hrs. (More specifics on time as transportation details are worked through).
State County Health Department Guidelines must be followed, which currently means:
Athletes must be in groups (pods) of 5 or less.
They will stay in their groups of 5 throughout the open coaching.
Temperature check and screening each day (or use of Attestation App)
No use of locker rooms
Athletes bring their own water bottle
Maintain 6 feet distance
ALL STUDENT-ATHLETES MUST BE SIGNED UP ON FINALFORMS
All paperwork must be completed
No fees need to be paid.
It is recommended that athletes have an updated physical on file
This will allow coaches to communicate with their team.

ALL Student-athletes or their parents must notify their coach if they are participating in these camps.
Whitmore said he will have a better calendar out with other sports listed after meeting with coaches.
