Parade planned for September 5

RITZVILLE — The Chamber of Commerce is organizing a community parade for Saturday, September 5, at 11 a.m.

Chamber President Karen Cady said due to COVID-19 restrictions on social gatherings, the parade will be a "drive by" through Ritzville, and participants will adhere to guidelines including use of masks and social distancing.

"The plan is to drive through Ritzville with our cars, trucks, or vans (no walking) decorated to celebrate our community, families, graduates or whatever we can celebrate," Cady said. "We just want to celebrate positive things. Nothing negative or offensive."

Cady said she thought the parade will probably begin at the Lind-Ritzville High School.

"We will drive through town and on out to the flats," Cady said. "Everybody who wants to do it is welcome."

"It's to give the community a shot of hope," city councilmember Debbie Chapman said.

Parade participants are asked to bring their own water, snack and mask.

Parade forms are available on the chamber website and at City Hall at 216 East Main Avenue.

For questions, contact Cady at 509 999 8941 or by email at [email protected].
