Eastern Adams County's Only Independent Voice Since 1887
I am a 76-year-young retiree; geologist/farmer/mechanic/U.S. Army. As a former scientist, the numbers and percentile for the COVID-19 deaths look real good.
The CDC/prevention doctors mean well but are overreacting; overly cautious and pessimistic. Their viewpoint and harsh medical criteria carries over to federal/state/county public health authorities. Cases and confirmed cases are referring to those testing positive, not infectious as sometimes erroneously stated by the media. Only 15 to 20% of persons testing positive become infected, with mostly mild to moderate symptoms. Only a few require intensive care. KREM News stated some 121,000 COVID-19 deaths a few weeks ago for the country. Our USA population is some 315 million. Hence, we have 0.038% deaths, not even 1%. Look at all the other deaths; suicides, murders, traffic accidents, cancer, overdoses, etc. Like any war, physical or biological, there will be some losses (people, things) in order to progress to victory. We need to return to normal. Why ruin the economy and bankrupt the country?
The COVID-19 restrictions/stages has become another political game/ploy. Where is the common sense, the serving the people first? Congress did become bipartisan and pass a several trillion dollar care relief package. But, this puts our national debt at 25 trillion dollars, some three trillion beyond the gross national product. No country can survive long with such deficit spending.
Each county and regions/sections/cities within the county need to be treated differently. The governor’s mandate on masks is a bit much.
