MEDICAL LAKE/FOUR LAKES -- Washington State Department of Transportation is alerting travelers using both directions of Interstate 90 near Exit 272 to be aware of overnight closures next week as work continues on the Medical Lake/State Route 902 interchange. Contractor crews working will be pouring concrete for the new bridge deck that spans over Interstate 90.
According to a DOT news release, the eastbound I-90 lanes will be closed overnight Monday-Tuesday, July 20-21, from 9 p.m. -- 5 a.m. Westbound lanes will be closed overnight Wednesday-Thursday, July 22-23, from 9 p.m. -- 5 a.m.
During the closures, drivers will be detoured off I-90 using the off-ramps at the SR 902/Medical Lake interchange, routed through the intersection with SR 902, and back onto I-90 using the on-ramps. Travelers are advised to either make alternate route plans or be prepared for delays, and plan their journey accordingly.
Continuing is the reduced speed limit on I-90 between MP 272.30 and 273.35 within the limits of the construction work zone. The reduced speed limit is enforceable with fines doubling within the work zone. The speed reduction will continue through project completion.
The closure is part of the SR 902/Medical Lake interchange improvement project which includes the construction of the parallel bridge over I-90.
