Business owner supports festivities

Letters to the editor for July 8 edition

This year’s 4th of July fireworks displays by you, our neighbors, and our friends, was a sight to behold.

It was hands down the best display and most celebratory 4th of July I have been witness to since the '80s when it was legal to do them everywhere.

Matt Carlson, Ritzville Police Department, patrolled in our neighborhood and all-around Ritzville on the 4th of July. He observed fireworks displays for a while, then at the awesome height of the display (about 10 p.m. or so), Officer Carlson played the Star-Spangled Banner on his patrol car loudspeaker for everyone in our neighborhood to hear.

For about a minute all the artillery stopped as we listened to our nation’s great song. Then, just before the final note rang true, the silence turned to sounds of neighbors shouting and screaming yells of patriotism and the sky was lit up again! Ritzville is such an awesome place to live, do business and raise kids.

The American spirit is alive and well! It is such a gift to live in the heart of such an awesome community where freedom, respect and the American dream are still valued and honored.
