RITZVILLE — Here is the city police response log for June 23-26

June 23

22:35 Report of two suspicious subjects at 6th and Division Street. A WSP trooper checked the area but was unable to locate anyone.

22:38 Report of a domestic. One subject was looking for keys as the other had thrown them outside so the first would not drive as there had been alcohol consumed by the first one. The keys were located and given to the reporting party for safe keeping for the night. No arrests were made.

23:09 Report of a group of individuals harassing and possibly going to assault one of the subjects. A WSP trooper assisted in questioning each subject. No probable cause was determined, so all subjects were released and instructed to leave each other alone.

23:43 Report of a pickup parked at a local motel with the door open. The responsible person was contacted and said he just thought he forgot to shut the door earlier in the evening. Nothing was missing.

June 24

21:09 Request for a welfare check on a person reported to be the victim of domestic violence. The subject wanted to know how to get an evaluation and suggestions were provided to her. No arrest was made as she said she was not assaulted.

21:55 A complaint was received from the owner of a local motel regarding non-payment of a long term tenant. The complainant was referred to the land lord tenant act available on the attorney general’s web site.

22:58 A request to complain about the RPD was received. Chief McCormick returned the call and explained the officer’s contact to the complainant. She was unaware of what actually took place and there was quite a language barrier with the subject she was listing to.

June 25

09:29 Report received of a hit and run fender bender at a local coffee shop. The other vehicle was identified and the responsible party was contacted and will contact the complainant.

11:48 Report of a dog who may have been shot with a bb gun and in need of vet care. The dog’s owner was contacted and advised to get the dog to the vet or pet rescue or she may be charged with several animal ordinance violations. The complainant in the case has offered to help the dog’s owner get the needed care and or transportation.

12:32 A request was received from the hospital asking for assistance in locating a subject that walked away wearing a hospital gown. The subject was located ¾ mile south of Ritzville walking and was given a ride back to the hospital.

12:35 A complaint was received from a state agency regarding financial exploitation of a subject living in Ritzville. A copy of a report completed on this matter two weeks ago was forwarded to the state agency.

13:30 Request for a welfare check from an out of the area clinic. The subject contacted was fine but was given a courtesy ride.

June 26

09:15 Investigation is ongoing into a local business along I-90 that had a bullet shot through the front of the building from what appears to be the direction of I-90. The business was unoccupied and no one was injured. Surveillance footage is being reviewed and other business in the area have been contacted.

10:30 Report of a shoplifter at a local truck stop fighting with the manager. Corey J. Swan 28 of Arlington Texas was booked into the Adams County Jail on charge of Theft in the Third Degree. He had stolen 2 packs of cigarettes.

11:00 Report of a television left sitting on the corner of Columbia Street and Birch Avenue. The city crew was asked to dispose of it.
