Ritzville police logs for June 17-23

RITZVILLE — Here are the Ritzville police logs for June 17-23:

June 17

18:44 Burglary at storage unit. Lock changed and two ice chests missing.

21:18 Report of threatening messages through social media. Complainant advised on requesting an anti-harassment order through court system.

June 18

11:30 Report of a rifle missing from a pickup turned out to be due to a family member moving it.

13:18 a 911 hang up call at a local truck stop was due to someone trying to dial for an outside line.

15:37 Report of a subject chasing a family member with a hammer. Family problems were occurring throughout the day, but no threat or assault took place.

18:48 Officers followed up on a report of possible meth use in a vehicle at a local motel by finding the driver near I-90 and Highway 261, and issuing unrelated traffic infractions. Driver refused a search of the vehicle, and no contraband was observed in plain view.

June 19

01:30 Report of two suspicious persons near the Old Park Way Building on Main Ave. Officers determined they did not fit the description of burglary suspects at that location earlier in the month.

16:01 A request was received for a skunk trap. One will be dropped off when a trap is available.

17:12 Report of a white extended cab Ford pickup spinning brodies in the parking lot between the City Hall and the seed plant. The suspect was described as a male subject with a full black beard and an orange shirt.

18:11 A report was received of a man hole cover off and the hole exposed at Division St. and First Ave. The City Crew was advised and requested to respond.

18:32 Report of a suspicious red SUV in the area of the 200 block of east Birch Ave.

20:00 Report of a missing bicycle was located an hour later by a police officer.

23:00 Report of a fight in a local bar. The victim refused to provide a statement and did not want the police involved, this time.

June 20

03:00 Report of a vehicle driving recklessly near 7th and Jefferson. The suspect vehicle was also reported as seen pulling up in front of a residence on west 7th, placing an item inside a silver Camaro and speeding off. The white hatchback, possibly a Honda, has a very loud exhaust.

11:12 Report from an out of town person regarding harassment of some subjects living in her family’s home was followed up with advising residents of options for requesting a restraining or anti-harassment order from the court.

15:08 Request for a welfare check from a state agency. After an officer made contact with an adult at the residence, a representative of the state agency made contact and will be working with the subject to obtain services for help with the chilcren.

10:55 Report of possible mistreatment of small children. An officer responded and contacted the suspected subject and the children. An officer made contact and discussed appropriate means of discipline with children.

14:41 Report of custodial interference. Parents were advised to take issues regarding the parenting plan to the court of jurisdiction in the matter.

June 21

17:46 Officer reported a suspended driver in the area to a sheriff’s deputy.

21:00 Noise complainant in the area of the Little League Field. An officer observed a car parked in the area and some subjects but the music was not too loud at the time the officer was there.

23:27 Report was received of a red Ford Explorer driving in a reckless manner, possibly a DUI. The vehicle was heading south on SR-

216 from a local gas truck stop. The driver provided a sample of her breath which showed .000.

June 22

07:25 Agency assist was received from a county agency. An officer made

contact with a subject at his residence and transported him to the hospital without incident.

17:01 An officer responded and assisted a resident at a local apartment complex with a

juvenile problem. The juveniles involved apologized to the complainant and agreed to stay away

from her apartment door.

22:00 An officer responded to the report of a neighborhood dispute. Alcohol was involved.

June 23

10:47 A request to contact a subject that has an active restraining order regarding funds and

food needed by the other half. Suggestions were given to involve

their pastor, not the police, as this is an going issue now for the past few months.

13:18 An officer contacted a subject driving a vehicle registered out of California with a

disabled plate displayed. Warnings had been previously given. The family will be contacting the

owner in California requesting the paper work so they can transfer the title and get the vehicle

licensed in Washington.

13:59 A request was received for a welfare check. The boyfriend was

contacted and requested to have his girlfriend call her mother when she returned home.

14:50 A request for an officer to respond to a local store was received. A subject left a

cell phone at local store, requesting it be given to the police. The officer responded and picked up

the phone and returned it to the subject, as the PD did not need the phone.

16:21 Report of a traffic accident at a local gas station. An officer determined the accident was on private property. Both parties exchanged insurance information. There were no injuries.

19:08 Report of a loud disturbance was believed to have been a subject

living about a block away pounding on the door of a motor home yelling at someone inside.

20:41 Report of a small white mini bike being driven across the runway at Pru Field. Tracks from the mini bike appeared to have gone up the bank toward the houses on west Broadway.

20:47 Agency assist with the sheriff’s office executing a search warrant on a vehicle.

20:52 An officer observed an unsecured city building. A member of the city crew was

called to secure the building.

21:33 Report of a black Mitsubishi Eclipse being driven recklessly up Division. The vehicle was located parked in an alley in the 100 block of

west Sixth Ave. The driver was not located.

21:50 A vehicle was tagged as abandoned in the 100 block of west Sixth Ave. It has an

expired license as of January 2020.
