Community pool won't open, yet

RITZVILLLE — The community pool won’t be able to open until the county gets to Phase 3 of Governor Inslee’s 4-phase “Safe Start” program, and new cases of COVID-19 decrease significantly county-wide.

Adams County Park and Recreation board members said they are relying heavily on local and state guidance as to when the safest and most appropriate time to open the pool will be.

“We have also been in contact with surrounding area pools as to what their plans are for making a decision to open or remain closed,” one board member said Monday. “Many things such as capacity and feasibility of a shortened summer have been discussed, and it is apparent that we have many obstacles against us, but we aren’t giving up yet.”

The pool will be filled, cleaned and ready to go; so when the board gets the green light to open, it can be done quickly.

Serving on the board are Krista Krause, Andee Heider, Stephanie Stokoe, Kandis Duff and Amber Moore.
