RITZVILLE — A local man was booked into the Adams County Jail for fourth-degree assault-domestic violence.
Gary A. Craycraft of Ritzville was arrested May 24, records show.
Police were dispatched the area of South Chelan Street and East Seventh Avenue around 12:30 p.m., after a caller dialed 911 and hung up, reports show. The responding officer reported going to the same address for a domestic violence call one week earlier.
The police officer was accompanied on the May 24 call by an Adams County Sheriff’s Office deputy and two Washington State Patrol troopers.
According to law enforcement reports, a person living with Craycraft at the address reported being hit by Craycraft with a closed fist.
Craycraft allegedly stated he was arguing with the victim, when he “tripped, fell towards her and ended up accidentally striking her in the face,” the report said. Craycraft was also quoted in the report as stating he “had a choice as he was falling, fall into a window or towards her and he chose to fall towards her.”
Craycraft was booked without incident, according to the report.
