Ritzville truck driver killed in crash

PATERSON — A Ritzville truck driver was killed in a crash on state Highway 221 one mile north of town on Tuesday, June 2.

Thomas J. Pattock, 64, of Ritzville, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash at Milepost 1.

According to the Washington State Patrol, Pattock was northbound on the highway connecting Paterson, on the Columbia River, to Prosser.

His Volvo truck and trailer left veered onto the shoulder and overturned, the patrol said.

Pattock was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, the patrol said, noting Sgt. T. Surdam has notified the driver's family of the fatal crash.

Neither alcohol nor drugs were factors in the crash, the patrol said, citing the cause as "wheels off roadway."
