Five coronavirus cases logged in Othello

OTHELLO – Two new Adams County cases of coronavirus were confirmed Friday, March 27, bringing the total to five.

All five cases are in Othello, and all patients are between the ages of 50-70, Adams County Health Department Community Health Director Karen Potts said.

The two new cases are not linked to the previous three cases.

“This is a sign of an ongoing community spread in the Othello area,” Potts said. “The first patient is no longer requiring isolation and is recovering at home. Of the remaining four individuals, one is hospitalized. The rest are in self-isolation at home with daily monitoring by Adams County Health Department staff.”

Potts suggested adhering to social distancing guidelines.

“COVID-19 is spreading throughout our communities, and the main way of reducing the spread is staying away from each other wherever we meet,” Potts said. “We are in it together, and that is how we help each other.”
