HARRINGTON - With available activities outside the home seemingly decreasing each day, golf remains a game that can be played without any close contact to anybody. As of press time, the Harrington Golf and Country Club remains open as long as golfers are willing to practice safe social distancing.
"We're going to be open as long as we are allowed to be," manager Melissa Gilmore said.
"When you are on the golf course, you aren't within six feet of one another unless you ride on the cart," Gilmore said, adding that for now, golf carts are not available. "We have the walking cart available. Golfers have their own equipment so they are touching all their own stuff. You're not breathing each other's breath because you are outside."
For the rest of Mach, the course is open for golf only. Golfers are asked to drop the $10 fee in the pay box. The restaurant and clubhouse are closed.
On April 1, Gilmore, says the plan was to open the clubhouse for curbside takeout orders only. With Gov. Inslee's stay-at-home order being issued, the board that runs the golf course is meeting Wednesday, March 25, after press time, to reconsider this.
Inslee's order does allow for outside exercise activity as long as participants stay six feet away from each other.
