Four girls compete for 'Distinguished' title

Competition schedule for March 21

LIND - Three students from Lind-Ritzville High School and one student from Sprague will be participating in this year's Distinguished Young Women program.

Distinguished Young Women is a national program with local participants in their junior year of high school competing for nearly $3,500 in scholarships.

The annual local program takes place this year at 1 p.m., March 21, in the Lind-Ritzville Middle School gymnasium.

This year's participants are:

Serena Anne Block, from Sprague, hopes to attend Western Washington University to better her skills in art.

Her talent is music.

The daughter of Seth Wayne Krueger and Ember Rose Block, she is active in water color painting, tennis, basketball, pencil art and playing the ukulele.

Recent achievements include participating in Honor Choir and varsity tennis.

Public service includes involvement in the Summer Reading Program with helping the town out by watching over kids, being active in Flag Placing by placing flags on graves on Veterans Day, volunteering for and singing at the town banquet, and helping people in need with housework.

Other interests include art, music, playing sports and acting.

Block's siblings are Jace, William and Rose.

Naya Lea Bonita, daughter of Ulysses and Hayley Bonita-Padgett, hopes to pursue a culinary career plans to attend Whitworth University.

Her talent is singing.

Bonita's activities include dancing, singing, hanging out with her friends, baking, cooking, writing, reading, playing video games, long boarding and swimming.

Recent achievements include DECA state, talent show, and student of the month.

Public service activities are helping the homeless, donating food to the food bank, picking up trash off the side of the road, raking leaves for people and singing for elders.

Other interests are making people smile and laugh, having fun, anime and foods from foreign cultures.

Bonita's siblings are Sebastien and Trinity.

Ava Grace Saint John, daughter of Bradley and Tina Saint John, looks forward to attending college at Harvard, NNU or Eastern Washington University.

Saint John said she did not yet have a career in mind, but "just want to help others."

Her talent is playing the piano.

Active in FFA, cheerleading and National Honors Society, Saint John enjoys baking, reading and participating in church activities.

Recent achievements include taking first place with an FFA floral team, being named Most Inspirational Cheerleader in 2018-19, and achieving Most Eligible Bronco status 2015-20. Public service activities include cleaning up the local food bank, helping at Vacation Bible School and serving dinner with the FFA.

Saint John has one sister; Faith.

Tymber Wolf, daughter of Jon Wolf and Nicole Allen, wants to pursue a culinary career and hopes to attend Cascade Culinary Institute.

Her talent is playing the flute.

She is active in the Lind-Ritzville Pep Band, Bi-County Honor Band and Marching Band. Recent achievements include receiving a Perfect Attendance Award, and being named First Chair in the Bi-County Honor Band.

She also enjoys photography.

Public service involves highway cleaning.

Wolf's siblings are Jacob, Nicholas, Anthony, Rusty, Christina, Janice, Katherine, Ashleah, and Tamera.
