School official thankful for local support
RITZVILLE — All four levies asked for by the Lind-Ritzville School co-op are being approved by voters in the special election Feb.11.
The co-op asked for two levies in Lind and two in Ritzville, including a replacement levy for each district.
Lind-Ritzville/Sprague Superintendent Don Vanderholm reached out to The Journal.
“On behalf of both school boards, staff, and administration, I want to thank you very much for your generous support in passing the levy proposals put before you on Feb. 11,” Vanderholm said. “Because of you, we can continue to provide quality programs for our kids, maintain our outstanding facilities, and build our two wonderful communities.”
The replacement levy in Lind is passing 173-49. The new Lind levy, meant to fund new technologies, had 169 yes votes and 52 no votes.
In Ritzville, the replacement levy is passing 423-301 and the new levy is at 422-294.
“It means a lot to the districts,” Vanderholm told The Journal in a phone interview. “It’s going to really help us continue our programs and how we serve kids.
“We’re really excited to see the [new] levies go through. That’s going to be a big boost to our technology side of things and will allow us to do some things to keep our programs on the cutting edge.”
