So what if...
Well, up until a week ago last Sunday I watched all of the last 53 Super Bowls.
This was a run that I was most proud of but more importantly it basically it says, "Hmm...you are getting old aren't you?" I had plans to watch Super Bowl LIV. That was until I had heard that Dish network and KAYU 28 were at an impasse. Depending on who you were listening to it was the other guys fault.
Now I know that my bill was paid up because through an email we were told that our bill to Dish had been paid. However, I don't think that really matters. I know that we won't receive any of the money we paid getting returned to us because the most important game of the year was shut out of the Anderson home. No, I'm sure they are really sorry for the inconvenience.
So what was my back up plan? I certainly wasn't going to miss the game would I? I'm one of those guys that doesn't like to bother anyone just to watch a game so I didn't.
Oh sure, I kept turning over to 28 now and then to see if the negotiations improved and an agreement was reached and there I would be watching SB LIV but that was not to be.
So, I turned it over to the NFL channel and listened to the game and watched the statistics being gathered throughout the game. I didn't listen to the whole game because channel surfing is still a thing in our house.
I must say that the announcers on the radio were a bit more upbeat compared to the TV folks. They have to be to keep a listener enjoying the game.
They also have to keep the interest up when there is a play that is being challenged or if there is a replay that, of course, can't be seen on the radio. I don't remember the announcers name even though I must have heard him announce dozens of games over the years and yes he does a great job keeping the listener involved in the game.
After thinking about it I've heard 54 Super Bowls and watched 53 of them. I also saw plenty of highlights after the trophies were handed out which seemed like a very long time.
Okay, I did see the game the last time that Kansas City was in Super Bowl IV when they beat the Minnesota Vikings. And I know that the Chiefs were a very good team and probably should have at least played in another Super Bowl game than have to wait 50 years.
Now, I'm not a San Francisco 49er fan but I do like wide receiver Kendrick Bourne who was a great receiver for the Eastern Washington University Eagles and he is doing a fine job for the team that plays in Santa Clara.
I also still like former Seahawk DB Richard Sherman.
I was happy that Kansas City head coach Andy Reid finally won his first Super Bowl. Hopefully, critics will finally give him credit for being a great head coach that has had a ton of success during his career.
I do enjoy watching the Chiefs play and Patrick Mahomes is the real deal and there are a lot of people that say that with him at quarterback no lead is safe until the final gun goes off.
The Chiefs rallied from ten down in the 4th quarter. The final score was Kansas City Chiefs 31 San Francisco 49ers 20. I know that a lot of people think this was a great game and I could only listen and wonder.
What if this happens again next year with CBS? Well, I can only say that I'm actually getting two CBS affiliates and I should have better odds of getting to see that one.
So what if I didn't get to see the Super Bowl this year, did I really miss something? Maybe.
