U.S. Attorney for Eastern District of Washington sworn-in

William “Bill” Hyslop was sworn-in as the United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Washington on July 18.

Hyslop, 68, has practiced law in the Spokane area for nearly four decades and previously served as U.S. attorney from 1991 to 1993.

“It is with great honor and humility that I assume this office for a second term,” said Hyslop in a press release. “I look forward to supporting our justice system, working with law enforcement at all levels, and to maintaining and preserving the fine reputation this office has for upholding the law and administering equal justice for all.”

Hyslop has worn many hats over the years, and served as president of the Washington State Bar Association from 2015-16. He also received the Washington State Bar Association President’s Award in 2006, has served as president of the Spokane County Bar Association and has been president of the Washington State University Alumni Association.

He graduated from WSU in 1973, received a Master’s Degree from the University of Washington in 1977 and earned his Law Degree from the Gonzaga University School of Law in 1980.

Hyslop is admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Washington, for the Western District of Washington and for the District of Idaho. He is also admitted to practice in the Ninth Circuit for the U.S. Court of Appeals, as well as before the U.S. Supreme Court.
