The Lind Town Council has authorized Steve Nelson of Century West Engineering to fill out an application on behalf of the town to the Public Works Trust Fund for funding to pave several roads in Lind.
The Public Works Trust Fund is a low interest loan program. Nelson had informed the council of the program at the June 11 council meeting. At the June 25 meeting, Nelson presented a plan to fill out an application to fund the paving of 8th, S, L and I streets.
Nelson told the council the cost is estimated at about $84,000 and the interest would be about 1.25% over 20 years. The annual loan payment would be about $4,725. He also said the town should be able to talk down the total cost a bit.
If the application were to be accepted, the town would not be under any obligation to move forward with the loan. Nelson stressed that the council members were not being asked to commit to any money being spent at the time. But he asked that if they knew they wouldn’t be interested, to tell him so that he could let it go. He said the application would take about a week to complete.
Councilors Jim Dworshak and Rose Elkington chose not to vote due to living in the area in question. The rest of the council all voted to submit the application.

Also at the meeting, Nelson brought up Well No. 6, where the fill station is. Nelson said the pump doesn’t do very well when it is turned off and on a lot. He said it had been discussed in the past to put a 10,000 gallon tank, a booster pump and a credit card reader at the fill station.
The council gave Nelson the go ahead to get more information and put in an application for funding for it. Council members also mentioned it would mean payments at the fil station would no longer be on the honor system.
Mayor Paula Bell announced that Home Electrical Services turned in an estimate to add outlets and wiring to the back of the Centennial Statue at Centennial Park. Bell said the project would allow street lights to be plugged in without problem.
The estimate was for a little under $1,100. The council unanimously approved accepting the estimate and approving the service.
