Ritzville Police Department Dispatch Reports: June 27, 2019

May 1, 3:39 p.m. — A complainant called in and reported that he thought packages that were to be delivered at his house might have been taken to another house instead. An officer responded and located the packages on 4th Avenue when they were supposed to be delivered to an address on 5th Avenue. An officer stood by while the packages were picked up by the complainant and an explanation was provided to the neighbors.

May 1, 4:39 p.m. — A complaint of a driver failing to yield and nearly causing a collision at Washington and 2nd was received. The complainant and suspect driver exchanged unpleasant words. The suspect driver was located, contacted by an officer and was cautioned on his driving and his outburst. He apologized and admitted he did not yield, and he moved right along.

May 2, 11:03 a.m. — A complaint was received of semi-wheat trucks running the stop sign at 2nd Avenue and Adams during the construction detour. An officer sat in the area several times throughout that day as well as other previous days and no violations were observed at the reported location. However there were several violations at 2nd Avenue and Jefferson. A call was made to an area warehouse with a request for the trucks to obey all traffic laws and use Division Street or I-90 and Danekas Road to access the wheat terminal on Danekas Road instead of right through town, as the trucks were coming north on SR359. The problem was resolved.

May 2 — Several unlicensed and/or abandon vehicles were tagged for removal on the west Main Avenue area. If the vehicle appears to be unused, damaged or not currently licensed and legally parked, they are subject to be tagged for removal. Follow up and removal may take place after the 7-day notice takes effect if the vehicles are still in violation.

May 2, 1:48 p.m. — A request was received from the library staff for an officer to do a walk through as there was a subject inside that was acting strangely. An officer responded and stood by while the staff spoke to the subject, who gathered their belongings and left for the day.

May 2, 2:00 p.m. — Apparently abandoned vehicles were tagged for removal in seven days in the area of east Broadway Avenue.

May 2, 3:15 p.m. — A call was received from a complainant regarding threating statements made by one of the neighbors regarding the recently tagged vehicles in the area on west Main Avenue. The complainant advised they had nothing to do with the vehicles being tagged. An officer responded and explained the reason for the action being taken on the vehicles. The subject was also warned about making threatening and harassing comments to another person.

May 3, 10:03 a.m. — An officer responded to an area on south Jefferson regarding a dispute with a complainant and his neighbor over property lines. Both subjects were advised they would have to have a survey if they could not agree on the property lines. The Ritzville Police Department, by policy, do not become involved in boundary line disputes.

May 3, 10:10 a.m. — An officer was requested to respond to an address on east Cherry Avenue regarding abandoned vehicles left on the complainant’s property. An officer responded and provided the information as requested and where to find the abandoned/hulk vehicle forms online.

May 3, 3:00 p.m. — An officer responded to a request for information at an address on west 5th Avenue to answer questions on how to proceed with fraudulent use of their credit card. The officer responded and provided the information requested.

May 3, 3:47 p.m. — An officer was requested to respond to an address on east 4th Avenue to do a welfare check on a family member. The officer did as requested and re-contacted the complainant. There were some confusing circumstances and misinformation provided by different family members. The complainant was advised of the officer’s findings.

May 3, 8:13 p.m. — An officer responded to a local fast food mini-mart for a two-car traffic accident. The officer assisted the subjects involved in exchanging information and was cleared.

May 4, 11:20 a.m. — A call was received from a complainant on south Jackson Street advising there were some threats being made regarding a prescription for medication that was given to a second and then a third-party to be filled in Spokane. Apparently the prescription was never left at a pharmacy and never filled, but the complainant and subject the prescription was written for were not in agreement and continued to argue. The subjects were advised that if there was any crime committed, it was not in Ritzville and to contact the Spokane Police Department. The subjects were not satisfied and wanted it resolved here. The officer was unable to determine who did anything wrong—if anyone had at all. They were referred back to the doctor that wrote the prescription and/or the pharmacy in Spokane.

May 4, 4:54 p.m. — A call was received from a subject on east Cherry Avenue advising they observed a subject on someone else’s property and he thought no one should be there. After an officer responded he was able to determined the neighbor was helping take care of the yard work and did have permission.

May 5, 1:42 a.m. — While on patrol, an officer observed some dry grass on fire near a residence. The officer contacted the residence and was able to have an adult check the situation out. It was determined the fire crept out of a fire pit previously used that evening. A garden hose was used to extinguish the small grass fire.

May 5, 9:48 a.m. — An officer responded to an address on east 8th Avenue regarding a found dog. The owner was located and the dog was returned with the help of some local residents.
