Eastern Adams County's Only Independent Voice Since 1887
The East Adams Library District will be holding a health literacy program today, June 27, in the Ritzville Public Library basement.
The National Networks of Libraries of Medicine, Pacific Northwest Region, donated a ‘book club kit’ for a book that ties in to June’s National Health Observance, which has been LGBTQ+ Health and Awareness.
The book chosen by EALD is “This Is How It Always Is,” by Laurie Frankel. The book has previously been a Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine Book Club pick.
Thursday’s program is a co-hosted book discussion, but reading the book beforehand is not required. Assistant librarian Amy Hille said that EALD is “looking to create healthy discourse and provide health information and resources.” Hille’s co-host for the evening will be Maeve Griffith, a transgender woman, military veteran, a captain with the Spokane Fire Department and an artist.
Free copies of “This Is How It Always Is” will be given to the first seven patrons that sign up for tonight’s program, and one copy will also be kept for circulation in the library.
Tonight’s program begins at 6 p.m. Refreshments and door prizes will also be provided.
