Feb. 25, 16:25 — Received request from a subject at a local gas station to have an officer respond to assist a subject who appeared to be in need of assistance, but had a language barrier. On duty officer responded and determined the subject was recently released from jail and was attempting to get a ride to Othello. A third party assisted with the language and the subject was given directions on where to hitch-hike as he had no one to call.
Feb. 26, 10:46 — A traffic stop was conducted on W. First Ave. Nonie L. Slater, 33, of Ritzville was arrested and transported to the Adams County Jail for administrative booking on a charge of Driving While Suspended in the 3rd Degree.
Feb. 26, 14:45 — A local store requested contact with an officer regarding a fraud alert received from their bank on a credit card which was being offered as payment for groceries. An officer responded and was able to determine the owner of the card had recently traveled to the west side of the state and used her card. Her bank placed a fraud alert on her card due to unusual use on her card. The subject using the card was her son and the fraud alert had just not been removed yet.
Feb. 26, 20:39 — A subject reported a dog in the yard at a residence on N. Division Street that did not appear to have any shelter and it was very cold outside. An officer responded and was unable to locate the dog in the yard. He was familiar with the residence and is aware there is a dog house in the yard, and the dog is often let out into the fenced yard for short periods of time.
Feb. 26, 23:57 — An alarm was received from a local business on Galbreth Way. The business was checked and found to be secure. There have been other false alarms recently at the same business. If they continue, a letter will be sent to the owner advising them of the false alarm ordinance and penalties that may apply.
Feb. 27, 13:00 — A panic alarm was received by the dispatcher from a local bank. An officer responded and made contact with the employees after protocol was followed by the bank. It was determined the alarm was set off by a subject using one of the stations and was not aware of the location of the alarm button. The bank was checked and everything was found to be in order.
Feb. 27, 14:10 — A report of a dog at large was received from a subject on Dogwood Ave. The responding officer and the complainant observed the front door of a residence standing wide open. There were several inches of fresh snow on the ground and no fresh prints -- except the dogs -- around the house. The owner returned home and checked the residence and did not fine anything missing or out of place. The dog was put inside and the residence secured. The home owner was asked to call if they noticed anything out of place or missing.
Feb. 28, 12:05 — A complaint was received of a vehicle that was parked approximately four feet from the curb on W. Second Ave. near Division St. An officer responded and determined the vehicle was presenting a traffic hazard and hindering the snow plow. The owner was contacted at her residence and the vehicle was moved. It had been parked in that location due to the snow the night before, and she was not aware how far out into the street it actually was.
Feb. 28, 13:24 — A complaint was received regarding several dogs at the same address on W. 5th Ave. that may not be being cared for properly. An officer responded and observed a violation of the maximum number of domestic animals allowed under city ordinance at the same residence. A warning was issued and follow up inspection will be conducted. If the violations continue, citations will be issued.
Feb. 28, 15:48 — A request for a citizen assist was received from a subject living in Ritzville that has an ex-boyfriend in Lind. He would not turn over her medication after a break up. As the boyfriend lives in Lind, this matter was referred to the Adams County Sheriff’s Office. It was requested for the next available deputy in the area to attempt contact with the boyfriend and request he drop off the medication, or pick up the medication, if available, and transport it to Ritzville.
March 1, 01:10 — A call was received from a local truck stop advising a gold Honda is parked at the diesel island with a female sleeping behind the wheel. The complainant was unable to wake her up and was concerned. An officer responded and was able to contact the driver who had pulled off the road to get some sleep, as she was tired. There were no signs of impairment detected so it was suggested she pull to a safe place in the parking lot to get some rest. A WSP trooper was in the area and spoke with the subject regarding the dangers of driving while tired and the increased possibility of being involved in a collision.
March 1, 07:55 — A complaint was received from the US Social Security Administration regarding sexual misconduct that may be taking place in Ritzville. The matter was previously reported and currently under investigation by the RPD and the FBI. There are no new allegations and the suspect is not in the area.
