Ritzville Police Department Dispatch Reports: Feb. 21, 2019

Jan. 29, 02:54 — A complainant from an address on East 6th Ave. called and reported someone had just stolen her tent out of her garage. An officer responded and was unable to locate any evidence that would indicate garage had been entered and a tent had been stolen. After a short conversation with the complainant the officer cleared.

Jan. 29, 10:55 — An officer responded to an address on East 7th Ave. and assisted a complainant as requested on a landlord-tenant matter by checking a residence he had rented to a subject that ended up in the hospital. The complainant received information there were two other subjects staying in the basement. The house was checked and it did appear there was a couple living in the basement without the landlord’s permission. He will be taking the necessary steps to remove the items left. This is a civil matter regulated by the land lord tenant act.

Jan. 29, 12:03 — An officer responded and assist Child Protective Service as requested with an interview.

Jan. 30, 09:53 — A welfare check was requested at an address on West Main Ave. regarding a dog that was reportedly outside in a yard without shelter, food or water. An officer responded and checked the yard. There was adequate shelter in the fenced yard but no fresh signs there had been a dog in the yard. There was a water dish located but no water or ice was in the dish. The officer was not able to make contact with anyone at the residence. The call was unfounded by the responding officer.

Jan. 30, 13:57 — A complainant was received of a vehicle parked in the alley behind the post office. An officer responded and contacted two subjects that were completing a construction project on a building across the alley. They were in the alley with tools and material working out of the van, available to move it in the event emergency vehicles needed the alley. The complainant was advised of the situation.

Jan. 30, 15:24 — An officer responded to an address on East 7th Ave. to assist in removing items of drug paraphernalia that were located in a rental house by the landlord while moving items out of the house. The items were destroyed and disposed of by the responding officer.

Jan. 31, 12:25 — An officer responded to an address on East 6th Ave. and spoke with the resident about on-going calls for service at that residence.

Jan. 31, 15:26 — A report was received from a complainant advising while at a business on East 1st Ave. A subject in a black Escalade approached him and offered to sell household electronics out of the vehicle. The complainant told the subject he was not interested an the vehicle left southbound on Division Street An officer checked the area including all business along the I-90 interchanges and was unable to locate the vehicle. Information was later received the same vehicle was reported to be conducting a scam in the Tri Cities area and on into Spokane.

Feb. 1, 10:29 — A local business on East Main Ave. reported receiving a check that was returned for nonsufficient funds and was requesting assistance from the police. An office responded and was able to contact the subject that wrote the check. The subject advised they would be in contact with the complainant and take care of the bad check later in the day.

Feb. 1, 17:15 — A complainant was received from a residence on East Alder regarding a strange male subject that had been seen in the area and was now in the neighbor’s yard. The neighbor was contacted and said he had given permission for the subject in his yard.

Feb. 2, 11:29 — A request was received to contact a landlord at an address on East 7th Ave. regarding a found firearm in his rental house. The officer responded and determined the gun was a pistol.

Feb. 2, 16:33 — A call was received from a business on south highway 261 regarding subjects panhandling that had been asked to leave but refused. An officer responded and contacted the subjects refusing to leave stating they were on public property. The property was private property and the subject were told to leave which they did.

Feb. 3, 10:57 — A request was received from a complainant on Fairway Ave. regarding a junk vehicle on his property. An officer responded and filled out a hulk vehicle form for the complainant based on the condition of the vehicle. He will be able to dispose of the vehicle with the form.

Feb. 4, 09:37 — An intrusion alarm was received from a business on Galbreath Way. The RPD Officer on duty was on a priority call so assistance was requested from the sheriff’s office. A deputy responded and determined there was no problem at the business and the alarm was unfounded.

Feb. 4, 09:38 — A complainant called requested assistance at his residence on East 2nd Ave. with a family member. The officer responded and assisted as requested.

Feb. 4, 15:49 — A request was received from a business on West Main Ave. for extra patrols while they were moving new equipment in the building. The officers assigned will provide the extra patrols until the remodel is completed.

Feb. 4, 20:15 — A request was received from a business located on Galbreath Way to have an officer respond as they believed they had located a small packet of drugs on the floor of the business. The responding officer took the packet which contained a small amount of white powder substance that field tested positive for meth. The substance was disposed of as there were no suspects.

Feb. 4, 20:47 — The on-duty officer responded to assist the Ritzville ambulance as requested at a local residence.

Feb. 4, 18:46 — A report was received from the dispatcher of the crossing arms malfunctioning in the down position at the Division Street rail road crossing. BNSF was advised.

Feb. 5, 07:45 — A report was received on a disable vehicle partly blocking the street at 2nd Ave. and Cascade Street. Upon arrival the officer was unable to locate the vehicle.

Feb. 5, 20:09 — A report was received from a complainant advising her significant other was shoveling snow at a local business and had not checked in or returned home yet. An officer checked the Ritzville area and did not locate him. A deputy from the sheriff’s office checked the Lind area and was able to locate him and pass on the concern.

Feb. 5, 23:09 — An officer responded to a local residence and assisted the Ritzville ambulance as needed on a medical issue.
