Jan. 24, 12:17 — A request was received from an elderly subject who fell on the ice in front of the Post Office and needed help getting into her car. An officer responded and assisted as needed. The city crew was contacted and requested to spread sand or salt in the area due to the slick condition. The city crew responded as requested.
Jan. 24, 14:23 — A report of a traffic hazard was received advising a vehicle was parked on the side of the street on North Palouse. The complainant felt it was illegally parked and should be moved. An officer responded and checked the area finding the vehicle was legally parked and no action was taken.
Jan. 24, 21:00 — An officer responded to a request for agency assist at the Adams County Jail. The officer assisted as requested while the Sheriff’s K-9 and corrections staff searched the jail.
Jan. 25, 04:21 — A report was received from a residence on East 6th Avenue that there was an intruder in her residence armed with a knife. An officer responded and conducted a search of the residence which was securely locked and no intruder was located. The complainant said she heard a noise and assumed it was a man she thinks she knows that broke into her house and that he was armed with a knife. The officer cleared.
Jan. 25, 09:15 — A call was received from a local tire shop advising they were reviewing their surveillance video and observed a 1999-2004 white or light color Dodge Durango pull into the lot on the west side of the building at 19:30 on Jan. 18. A larger male subject approximately 30 years old with what was described as scraggly hair and facial hair got out of the passenger side of the Durango, looked around the junk tire area and then loaded up a complete set of tires and aluminum wheels that fit a Honda Element that had been left outside for the owner to pick up. The tires and wheels taken are valued at $700. If anyone has information on this theft or the suspect vehicle, please contact the RPD. You can remain anonymous.
It was determined by the employees there had been a second complete set of wheels and tires that fit a 2003 Saab were also taken from the same general area. They too had been left out for the owner to pick up. It is believed that theft took place a week prior.
Jan. 25, 16:15 — A complainant was received and an officer contacted the complainant who wanted to pass on some suspicious activity and information she had received from her ex-husband. A report was created so all officers in the area would be aware of the information. No action was required or taken at this time.
Jan. 25, 17:03 — There was a report of a suspicious subject going through garbage toters on South Adams. An officer responded and contacted a male subject who advised he was going through the toters looking for clothing. He was transported to the thrift store on Main Avenue to see if he could get some assistance from them. He was also warned to stay off private property and out of garbage toters.
Jan. 26, 12:50 — A citizen advised an officer she had contact with a young school-aged female at the gym who advised about 09:00 this morning in the area of 6th and Palouse while she was walking to the gym, a newer white car pulled up and an older male subject with a thin grey hair offered her a ride to the gym after he asked her where she was going. The girl said no and ran to the gym. The car sat at 6th and Palouse for a while but did not follow the girl to the gym. An officer made contact with the girl and checked the area but did not locate the vehicle. The girl advised she had seen the car in the area before and the car was full of boxes. All officers in the area have been advised as well as the girl’s parents.
Jan. 26, 15:00 — A report was received of a shoplifter at a local mini-mart. An officer responded and contacted the complainant who advised the subject never actually left the store with the unpaid item after he was confronted by the store employee. James R. Martin 39 of Spokane was contacted, trespassed from the store, warned about shoplifting, arrested and booked into the Adams County Jail on a Department of Corrections felony warrant out of Spokane.
Jan. 27, 09:54 — A subject reported he lost his wallet in the area of Main Avenue and Division Street when he wrecked his bike. It has not been turned in but if it is the subject will be contacted.
Jan. 28, 02:40 — A residential alarm was received from an address on East 6th Avenue. An officer responded and contacted the resident who advised she thought there were people in her house and that they may have been reading the instructions to her alarm system. She went on to talk about all the things she had reported stolen in the past few years, and then about all the people that go to the businesses on the hill at 04:00 to get the leftover food they throw away. She stated they come back to her house after they get the food. The officer talked to the complainant a few minutes, then cleared. No evidence of anyone being in her residence, and it was all secure.
