Broncos wrestlers finish regular season play, set sights on playoffs

The regular season is in the rearview mirror for the Lind-Ritzville/Sprague Broncos wrestling squad, as they now have their sights set on the postseason.

The Broncos wrapped up regular season play with a South League match in Colfax on Jan. 26, with just three wrestlers participating for LRS that day.

Freshman Johnny Ryan wrestled at 106 pounds in his two matches, like he has all season long. Ryan was trailing 7-3 in the second period of his first match when he got pinned by a wrestler from Reardan, who finished fourth in state last year as a sophomore. Ryan went up against another Reardan wrestler in his second match, and pinned his opponent about 25 seconds into the first period.

Eighth grader Brandon Davis also traveled to Colfax and wrestled at 106 pounds for the Broncos. Davis faced off against the same two wrestlers that Ryan went up against, and got pinned in the first period in both of his matches.
