Thanks to a $10,000 donation from Avista Utilities and Strata Solar, Lind Middle School has purchased a new reader board to better connect and communicate with the community. Avista Utilities and Strata Solar surprised Lind Middle School ASB students with a check for $10,000 during the ribbon cutting for the Adams-Neilson Solar Farm last week. The farm is located a half mile from the middle school and is the largest solar farm in the state.
“We are very thankful for the generous donation from Avista and Strata Solar,” said Reagan Snider, ASB President.
“We look forward to our brand- new reader board and for future students to enjoy it,” added Snider.
The current reader board is falling apart, forcing students and staff to get creative with their messages. In fact, the wear and tear of the board inspired students at the beginning of the school year to raise money for installation expenses. Students raised $1,185 selling Chukar Cherries.
The new reader board will be a full color LED screen, measuring 7.5’x 5.’ The new reader board is expected to be installed in the next five to six weeks.
Students also had an opportunity to meet and talk with Gov. Jay Inslee during the ceremony. Gov. Inslee asked students about their dreams and said the solar farm symbolizes their future. ASB students were also thrilled to stand next to Gov. Inslee as he cut the ceremonial ribbon for the solar farm project.
